Lapis Lazuli from Badakhshan Afghanistan is top quality and, has been used around the world in different formations such as in historical work at Egyptian pyramids or displayed in museums etc. The Afghani Lazuli is famous for having pyrite inclusions which gives them an extra spark between the royal and deep blue color of the actual lapis.
