Spilled Staint
Let it be a glass of wine, your juice, coffee, wet paint, ink or pet stains, blood, or even vomit , there is one solution that can solve it all.
90% of the time, simply using a baby shampoo, or a dedicated detergents for rugs(ones for dishes work too) with water, scrubbing the carpet in circular motion with a clean rag, then drying it up should be fine for any stain, but in rare occasions you need a bit more.
In some cases, there needs to be a followed up step from the shampoo/detergent one. Applying vinegar in the process can help in some cases such as red wine, ink or pet stains, blood or coffee, but only in a few situations.
Crushed Pile
If your rug is under some heavy duty furniture such as a couch, desk, dining table or a chair which is being used frequently, it will create a smell dent on the carpet, but that is perfectly normal. Handmade rugs were designed to be extremely durable, so no matter what type of furniture you put on it, it should not damage the foundation of the carpet.
Additionally, there are ways to fix to turn the rug back to its original pile size. The dent area of the rug needs to be damp with some water, then with a soft brush, carefully brush the tier until its back to its original height. Make sure to dry that area up once everything is finished!
Rug Pad
By the way of its creation, all kilims are designed to be very thin, with no pile whatsoever. This results in a very light weight rug compared to tradition hand-knotted ones.
The less weight means there is a good chance for the carpet to slip underneath your foot, causing it to move around as its being used. This usually only happens to the smaller sizes, but can happen to anyone of them depending on its usage.
Thankfully, finding a rug pad is extremely easy, can be found at a lot of places. It ensures your rug is where it's supposed to be and will stay there for good. It will also keep your rug in an excellent condition for a long period of times by keeping its foundation clean.
Another option would be stripes of silicon based caulking or double sided tapes, but a rug pad is always preferred over those two.
